Patchpals 2 – VU- Meter

I searched for a VU meter build to be able to check signals for their level. This is nothing fancy really. It basically shows the voltage of the signal. Between every diode you have a drop of approximately 0.7V so you can take that as a rule of thumb.

This shows the signal has around 2.1 -2.7 volts.

I usually use this if I want to amplify line levels to my modulars level using an amplifier module or the other way using an attenuverter before I plug in anything. Checking how hot the signal is.

This schematic is simple but it has a ton of pitfalls. Always check for diode polarity as well as capacitor polaritycurrent f!!!
current flows from the Anode (+) to the Cathode (-)
same applies for capacitors. here some common examples with their signs.
